Belia is a jewel! I was looking for guidance about specialized senior resources for my mother who is relocating to HI. Belia is not only incredibly knowledgable, but very kind. She discussed various possibilities for levels of care and then sent me a list of helpful to-dos and forms to get my mother started. I am so grateful for Belia and A Honu Space!
Jennifer B.
“Belia is a dream to work with. She’s kind and supportive with clear direction to keep me on task when I would get distracted. She helped me complete the shed and garage organization job I have been putting off for months.”
Li Hay
“Belia! Aloha! Thank you thank you so much for working your magic in our garage. I love what you have done. I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!! ENERGY CHANGINGβ¦we needed a changeβ¦We love the space. I donβt avoid the garage now.”

Please stop changing plans on your kΕ«puna at the last minute.
I had a kΕ«puna who was excited to go on a camping trip with her family. She packed everything she needed and carefully loaded her car.
Then someone asked if her grandchild could ride with her. She was thrilled, but it meant unloading and completely rearranging her car to make room for a car seat.
As she waited for her grandchild to be dropped off, they called and said they had decided to take the child in their own car instead.
To them, it may have felt like a simple change of plans. For her, it meant preparing, lifting, unloading, reloading, and adjusting twice.
KΕ«puna often need more time and energy to get ready. Before changing plans at the last minute, please consider the work they have already done.
A Honu Space provides non-medical support for kΕ«puna and families who need an extra set of eyes, hands, and follow-through.

Happy 4th of July!
Wishing you a fun, safe, and meaningful holiday.
In case you missed it, my June newsletter, Making Room for Love, went out a few days ago. Iβm sharing a little video peek here, narrated by me, with stories about organizing, kΕ«puna care, community, books, and the reminder that the stuff is almost never just stuff.
Sometimes we are clearing space. Sometimes we are making a plan. And sometimes, even at 85 and 86, we are making room for love.
You can read the full newsletter and sign up to receive future updates.

Getting out of the room matters.
For many kΕ«puna, their environment can become very limited.
Same room.
Same chair.
Same routine.
But even a short walk, a little movement, and simple conversation can support physical and emotional health.
The CDC says physical activity can improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and support blood pressure. The National Academies reports that about 1 in 4 adults age 65+ living in the community are socially isolated.
That is why companionship matters.
Often, a walk down the hall, a stop at the vending machine, or a familiar face can help someone feel part of the world outside their room.
KΕ«puna Concierge is not just about errands and tasks.
It is about presence, dignity, connection, and care.

Yesterday was branding photo shoot day and let me tell you⦠The prep was real.
Clothes everywhere.
Props packed.
Mugs, tumblers, outfits colors, ironing, second-guessing, changing my mind and then changing it again.
The shoot itself was a fast whirlwind and I only took these behind the scenes photos while I was there.
But I used every single piece of clothing hanging on that ironing board so Iβm calling that a win. Canβt wait to see how the final photos come out #AHonuSpace #BrandingPhotos #MauiBusiness @writtentruthproductions
Happy Fatherβs Day to my dad.π§’
My dad is 77 years old and living with Alzheimerβs, but he continues to inspire me every day.π
For more than 39 years, he has remained sober, guided by his faith, his commitment to serving others, and his determination to live a healthy life. He still exercises regularly, stays active in his community, and continues to show us what perseverance and compassion looks likeβ£οΈ
Most of all, he loves his girls.π§π½Three daughters, two granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters who are blessed to have his love, support, and example.
Today I am filled with gratitude for the lessons he continues to teach me, the memories we continue to make, and the privilege of calling him Dadπ΄π½

Did you know that most households have expired, discontinued, or unidentified medications tucked away in a cabinet, drawer, purse, or closet?
Whether you`re 25 or 85, it`s important to review the medications in your home at least once or twice a year.
Why?
π Expired medications may lose effectiveness.
π Unused prescriptions can be accidentally taken by children, pets, or other family members.
π Keeping old medications can create confusion about what should and should not be taken.
π Prescription medications are one of the most commonly misused substances found in the home.
When disposing of medications, do not flush them down the toilet unless specifically instructed by the medication label. Flushing can introduce pharmaceutical chemicals into our water systems.
Also, do not throw medications directly into the trash, where they can be accessed by people, animals, or contaminate the environment.
Instead, use a medication take-back program. FREE medication disposal bags are available at many pharmacies, including:
β Kaiser Permanente Pharmacies
β Longs Drugs/CVS Pharmacies
β Safeway Pharmacies
Take a few minutes this weekend to check your medicine cabinet. You may be surprised by what has accumulated over the years.
A safer home starts with knowing what`s in it.

The fun continued on Saturday with Event #2 of a busy and meaningful weekend!
I spent the afternoon at Team Tako Eye`s fundraiser for the Alzheimer`s Association Walk to End Alzheimer`s, hosted by the amazing Alohi. She did a fantastic job bringing together vendors, resources, food, prizes, and of course… BINGO!
It was great seeing families come out to support the cause. Friends stopped by with their kids, grandparents joined in the fun, it was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit.
I even played a few rounds of Bingo and quickly realized I was a little rusty. How do you forget how to play Bingo? π
A big mahalo to everyone for all the hard work that went into organizing this event. I hope the vendors had a successful day, and most importantly, I hope the event raised meaningful funds for Team Tako Eye`s Walk to End Alzheimer`s efforts.
It was also great to see Julie and Scott from the Alzheimer`s Association sharing valuable resources and information with our community.
It was wonderful to spend the afternoon representing A Honu Space, sharing information about my services, and introducing my books, Voices of Care and Lanterns in the Dark. I was grateful to sell and sign a few copies and have some wonderful conversations throughout the day.
Events like these show us how much can happen when a community comes together for a cause bigger than itself. π
